Reflecting on my journey in Christ

Man in the Mirror Chapter 3 Questions 5, 6 and 8

5) How would you define cultural Christianity?

Being a Christian and conforming to the culture or people around you rather then relying on the Bible as a guide to what Jesus desired in our lives.

6) After reading this chapter, would you call yourself a biblical Christian or a cultural Christian?  Why?

Definitly a biblical Christian.  The Bible is the Word of God.  It is the means for building our relationship with God through Jesus.  Unfortunately, I slip back every once and a while to the old ways of conforming to societies ideas of what God is.  It is times like these when God’s Word sometimes speaks the loudest.

8) If you are a biblical Christian, what advice would you give to a cultural Christian that might help him get on the right track?

This can be sucha challenging thing, and I know because it has been challenging for me, but remember God loves you for who you are and have faith that by abiding in his Word he will give you the strength to stand on your own dispite the culture around you.

I guess I have issues with the bible, and people who take it word for word.
The bible is a great story of faith and can be an inspiration for faith. But it is a book based on the writings of man, edited by men with agendas. There are entire gospels that did not make it into the bible because men in high powers did not like the way they fit.
I still believe that if you are a good person, and live a life that doesnt hurt others or yourself then your god/gods/goddess what ever you believe will be there for you.
